As a coach, you are responsible for designing and implementing coaching plans for each practice. NYSA encourages coaches to follow the Play-Practice-Play methodology, developed by US Soccer and recommended by Mass Youth Soccer. This player-centered approach allows coaches of all levels to help create training environments to fulfill the two basic needs of players of all ages: to have fun and to develop! Below are options NYSA has collected to help coaches plan practices:
MOJO
NYSA is excited to team up with MOJO, a free app, that will guide you through the season with age-appropriate practice plans for your team. Enter a few details about your team in the app such as age, number of players, length of practice, approximate team skill level. MOJO will provide a personalized practice plan along with videos to demonstrate each activity. Mass Youth Soccer as well as United States Youth Soccer's practice plans and demonstration videos are also accessible through MOJO. The USYS's National Grassroots Curriculum is in a category of its own called "US Youth Soccer" when you browse practice plans in the MOJO app. USYS practice plans follow the play, practice, play methodology along with dynamic learning activities...not the wait in line drills of the past. MOJO will save you a ton of time preparing while making practices easy to manage and more fun for the kids!
