The dates for the NYSA player evaluations have been set. Details below. As a reminder and for those new to NYSA travel league, we play in the Essex County Youth Soccer Association once players are in 5th grade. That means teams play 4 games at home (Cashman for U12 and Cherry Hill for U14) and 4 games in other towns spread across the north shore. Rather than playing on balanced teams (a few strong players, a few moderate players, a few developmental players) as they have been in U6, U8, and U10, teams are now created by putting players of similar skill together on one team. Those teams are then grouped with and play other towns with teams of similar skill to them. Therefore, NYSA hires third party evaluators to assess players' skills in a 90 minute evaluation session at the end of the spring season. We use this data along with data provided by recent coaches to place similarly-skilled players together on one team. ALL PLAYERS MAKE A TEAM. THERE ARE NO CUTS. However, it is mandatory that players attend this evaluation session. We do our best to check all school calendars and club try out schedules to try and get as many players available as possible. There will be dance rehersals, piano recitals, baseball and softball playoff games, etc that I simply cannot predict. There is no need to let me know if your player cannot attend these evaluation dates, but registration is required to be placed on a Fall team regardless of whether you attend the evaluation or not.
NEW THIS YEAR- even if you are a SPRING ONLY player in 5th-8th grade (I'm talking to you, club hockey players!!), you must attend this evaluation session. You do not have to register or pay any fees to attend the session. Just show up and write your name in.
All evaluation sessions take place at Cherry Hill.

Boys having a baseball playoff conflict are encouraged to attend as much of their evaluation session as possible before going to your game, even if it means showing up shortly before the first pitch. If there is a direct conflict, then a U14 boy may attend the U12 session and vice versa.
